ABF WatchEuropean Fintech Credit TrackerUpdated

Methodology

How deals get into the dataset, and what each field means.

Scope

Debt raised by fintech and specialty lenders headquartered in Europe (EU, EEA, UK, Switzerland) that funds their lending: warehouse lines, forward-flow agreements (a funder agrees to buy future loans), public and private securitisations, revolving credit facilities, term loans and other asset-backed facilities. Corporate venture debt to a lender is included when announced as funding for its loan book or growth. Equity rounds, bank deposits and regulatory capital instruments (AT1, Tier 2) are out of scope. Coverage starts on 1 January 2025.

Sources

Only public sources: company and funder press releases, newswires, public registers (ESMA and FCA securitisation notifications), law-firm deal announcements and free trade press. We respect robots.txt and site terms, and we do not copy paywalled articles. Each row stores our own one-line summary and links to its sources.

Fields

Announced
Date of the earliest public source we found. Law-firm notes are sometimes published after closing.
Facility type
As described by the source. "Credit facility" means the source doesn't say how the line is structured.
Size
Headline facility size as announced, in the original currency. "Up to" means a maximum, often including an uncommitted accordion. Forward-flow sizes are the facility or commitment, not expected cumulative loan volume.
Totals
Sums of disclosed sizes, per currency. We do not convert currencies. An enlarged or replaced facility is counted once, at its latest size.
Funders
Named lenders, loan buyers, arrangers and guarantors with their role where stated. Funder counts are not rankings.
Asset class
What the facility finances, from the source. "Not disclosed" if the source doesn't say.
Country
Borrower group headquarters. Where loans are made is listed separately when known.

Reusing the data

The data is free to use. Please cite ABF Watch and link to the original sources.

Known gaps

Many private facilities are never announced, and some announcements omit size or funders. Coverage is strongest for the UK and Germany, and for English-language announcements. If you know of a deal we're missing, tell us.
